Search engine Optimization Guidelines

As all knows search engine optimization is process by which we can get our site in top rankings on major search engine result pages. But it’s not so easy to get top rankings on SERP’s, there are some Google Webmaster’s guidelines, by using these guidelines we can easily get top rankings on major search engine. There are some factors given below which can improve website structure.

On-Page Factors:

Create Unique, Accurate Page Tittles

The title tag is for both the user and search engine. Title of the page tells what the topic of the particular page is. The content of title tag usually appears in the first line of the result. Words in title tags are bold if they appear in the search query. So the title of the page should be relevant to the page content, it can be the name of the business or other important information. Each of page should have unique title. The title should be brief but it should be descriptive.

Use Description Tag

Page’s Description Meta tags give Google a brief summary that what is all about. Wherever a page title is combination of some words but the description may be of one sentence. Description Meta tags is important because Google might use them as snippets for your pages. Each page on website should have unique and different description.

Improve URL Structure

URL should be simple to understand. If URL contains relevant words, this provides users and search engines more information about the page.

Prepare two sitemaps

A sitemap is one single page that displays the structure of your website. Visitor can visit this page if they are having problem to finding a specific page. An XML sitemap is for Google that makes easier for Google to crawl the whole website step by step. This sitemap can be submitted through webmaster tool. So there should both the sitemaps available on website XML & HTML.

Use robots.txt

This file named robots.txt placed in root of website. If you don’t want to crawl specific pages then you can use this file with disallow attributes. By using this Google will not crawl pages of your website specified in disallow attribute.

Use unique and quality Content

According to Google webmaster’s guidelines the content of the website should be unique and of high quality. The content must be simple to read. This content must be for users not for search engines.

These are some guidelines by using them we can get top rankings on SERP’s.
